New Fashion & Portrait Shots (Sabrina & Lex)

I’m so lucky to have such awesome friends who put up with me and my camera. I pestered a couple friends into letting me shoot them and here are the results:

First up is Sabrina, a girl I’ve known since high school. She was so much fun to shoot because it was one of the first few times in front of the lens professionally and she gave a unique quality to the photos.

Check out more photos of Sabrina at my Flickr account under Collections > Fashion & Portraits. If you have a Flickr account, add me!

Next is Lex who has been at many times my partner in crime. When I went to edit these photos, I realized that it had been a year to the day that we had done our last shoot. An annual trend, perhaps? Shooting portraits for friends is always fun because there’s a sense of comfort that’s automatically there. Anyway, check out the photos below:

The Cab / August 23, 2008 / Webster Theatre / Hartford, CT

This is the third and final date of the Dance Across The Country Tour that I had the opportunity to shoot. As always both the bands and crowd were amazing. The anticipation for The Cab to begin their set escalated quickly and the audience started cheering as soon as the band hit the stage to do their soundcheck. The band’s lead singer, appropriately nicknamed Singer, seemed to take a jab at people who described the band as "Nsync with guitars" by warming up with the boyband’s hit "Bye, Bye, Bye," which the crowd ate up and sang along to every word. The crowd also sang along to every song from the band’s set, consisting of tracks from their debut album "Whisper War." During "Bounce", their final song, The Cab had a special guest, rapper Eloquent, join them onstage to throw down a verse.

The Carps [Rogers Picnic] / July 20, 2008 / Toronto, Ontario

THE CARPS

Words cannot describe how much love I have for this band. I was a little hesitant towards making the 16 hour drive to go to the Rogers Picnic event, but as soon as I heard The Carps were playing, I was in. And the trip was well worth it as soon as they launched into their first song.

For only having two members in their band, their music packs a punch and the amount of energy behind their live performance is incredible. Even though the weather was less than stellar, the set included crowd-surfing, instrument breaking and some great booty-shaking music. Their sound is described as, ‘Punk Rock with a Gun to R&B’s head’ and they certainly pull that off.

After you check out these photos, listen to their music and make sure you see them live if they’re ever in your area… or within 16 hours driving distance.

Jack’s Mannequin / Warped Tour / July 20, 2008 / Toronto, Ont

Luckily I was finally able to catch Jack’s Mannequin live and they did not disappoint. I have to give credit to the entire band because their sound was tight, it was crazy. The atmosphere that Jack’s Mannequin creates is truly unique and the crowd loved it. Here are some photos from the set:
