Two shows lined up:
- Punk bands The Motorleague and Orphan Choir on April 26th in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
- A band I’ve been dying to see, Hey Rosetta! are playing a sold-out show in Fredericton, NB on April 28th.
Things you should check out:
- Blip.fm – It’s ridiculous how obsessed I am with this thing. It’s one of my more favourite music oriented social media tool. I’m Fauxtographer on there – add me!
- An inspiring post on PABLOg! that introduces a new motto we should abide by: Actually Fuck Do It. Read it, be inspired and spread the link.
And some new photos:
My friend Carrie and I were on our way to meet another friend when we drove by an apple orchard that we’ve passed a million times. I’ve wanted to do a shoot there for years but had never gotten around to it. Just then something inspired me and I abruptly pulled over.
“What the hell-”
“C’mon. We’re doing a shoot.”
In shoes that were meant for anything but hiking, we trudged through muddy grass and tripped over tree roots while cursing and laughing. We spent 30 minutes running around – me shouting direction and Carrie posing while getting twigs in her hair.
I haven’t felt that free at a photoshoot in such a long time. It reminded me of why I love photography so much. Sometimes you had to be serious, but other times you indulge in… well, frivilous folly is how I would put it. It doesn’t matter what the theme is, there is always an intense amount of dedication involved. Whether you want to bring emotions out or shoot a few product shots, you want to put your all into it and create great shots. Whether they come out as great as you wanted them to or not, you always take something away from the experience.
This photo was taken after I dropped my glasses into a gopher hole and before I fell out of a tree. <3

Yeah, it’s been awhile, but shows are few and far between right now. I’ve been focusing mainly on work and it’s been very overwhelming. I feel like I’m at some sort of crossroads and, like the Britney Spears’ film of the same name, it’s pretty shitty.
I’ve never been one for self portraits. In fact, I hate having my photo taken. I usually block my face with my (oddly large) hands or make some sort of stupid face. I feel that if I’m going to look stupid I may as well try to make it look like I did it on purpose. I’ve decided to try something new though. So under the cut there are some photos that I took of myself. I figured I’d give you fair warning before you clicked
I’ve also decided to keep this blog as professional as possible (smart-ass remarks aside), but if you are interested in following my personal photoblog check out my tumblr: symphoniclens.tumblr.com
One of the oddest shows I’ve been to in awhile. First of all, we found out the the show was at a university, which is fine and dandy. Then we realized it was in an auditorium. Like, with those shitty seats fold down seats that they only use in sketchy movie theatres (you know the ones – they have ‘Dollar Nite’ and only show outdated movies like Lindsay Lohan’s award-wining film “Herbie Fully Loaded” and “Drive Me Crazy” with the guy from ‘Entourage.’) So yeah, it felt like we were in a high school assembly. It actually turned out alright because this way you could see the stage well even from the back. This was one of the off-tour shows of The Secret Valentine Tour so unfortunately we didn’t get to see The Cab, The Maine, VersaEmerge or There For Tomorrow. Luckily We The Kings brought their ridiculous antics, great songs and a sweet new lighting set-up which more than made up for it.
It’s a pretty good time to be a Nine Inch Nails fan. Over 400 GB (yeah, GIGABYTES) of tour footage has been released to NIN fans for FREE. Apparently there was supposed to be an official tour DVD release for the Lights In The Sky Tour, but shit happened and Trent decided to let fans make their own DVD. Since my computer doesn’t have the capacity to handle the awesomeness of this footage, I’ve since downloaded an audio rip of the soundboard recording. Yep, a recording from the soundboard. Fuck bootlegs. Anyway, the audio rip has caused me to relive my concert experience from November and I was inspired to go back through my photos to see if I missed any. So here are some new photos from my Nine Inch Nails set that I neglected to post because I’m a douche.
…if you’re reading this note that means I’m still putting together the site. It’s probably slow-loading and very cluttered, but I swear I’ll get it under control. Or going crazy while trying to.
For now check out flickr.com/photos/riotproof and myspace.com/symphoniclens to see my current work — and feel free to add them :]
First show of the year and it was for one of my favourite bands, Wintersleep. They always put on an incredible show and keep the audience enthralled and begging for more. Check out my photos from the show.
I’m pretty sure that NIN has broken my brain. In all seriousness, this show was incredible and breathtaking. I had been waiting nine years to see Nine Inch Nails and they did not disappoint. To sum it all up in one word: epic.
